We invite you to support our event.
The preparation for Airiel show In Bandung, Indonesia.

Cherrypine present :

BIO
In 1997, Jeremy Wrenn formed a two-man shoegaze project called Airiel. Fast forward
to 2008 and the band is 4 members strong, has toured nationally and internationally,
released 2 singles, 5 EP’s (including 1 box set) and multiple compilation tracks leading them to their latest album, The Battle of Sealand.
Along with Highwheel Records (Chicago), Airiel recorded Sealand in January of 2007. Having released so many EP’s in the past few years, the band was overdue
for a full length effort and it was exactly what people expected: loud, noisy guitars, danceable rhythms, and catchy vocal melodies. The album showcased the band’s current lineup well and captured the live sound that they had developed while touring. Shortly after its release, a Japanese version of the album was released
by Quince Records in Japan, featuring a different song line up as well as 2 bonus tracks pulled from the self-released Airiel EP.
Known for their volume and live show intensity, Airiel leaves a solid mark wherever they play. Doing their best to break out of the typical shoegaze stereotypes,
the band has high energy performances that are blisteringly loud, prompting them to hand out ear plugs to the crowds. Take your favorite substance of choice and give them a listen.

PRESS
Chicago's Airiel have been kicking around in various forms for about a decade, but up until now they've only put out a series of EP's and compilation tracks. I'm glad to report that their first full-length effort, "The Battle Of Sealand", is well worth the wait. Airiel's sound may be closely associated with the "newgazer" scene, but unlike many of the other bands in that scene, you can actually strip back all the layers of nosey effects (which they put to fine use) and find some pretty strong song-writing from Jeremy Wrenn (whose voice sounds more like Ian Brown than Ian Brown does these days) and Cory Osbourne lurking underneath. Ulrich Schnauss shows up to add some sleek atmospheric electronica touches to "Sugar Crystals", but the song on Sealand that deserves the most attention is "Mermaid In A Manhole" which sounds like an imagined (hallucinated?) collaboration between Ride, The Stone Roses and Queens Of The Stone Age. This song alone is worth the cd's purchase price, and with 8 other songs here that aren't far behind in quality (I'm not crazy about the Intro or "Stay") "The Battle Of Sealand" is highly recommended.
DAVID MANSDORF (LosingToday )

“Refusing to toil in retro new wave, post-punk or yawn inducing folk rehashes is bound to cause a bit of misunderstanding. But, when listeners finally do come around to the towering greatness of The Battle of Sealand, it’s advised they make an earplug investment in the process” Magnet Magazine

“The Battle of Sealand is a long playing supplement to those (prior) brief Ep’s, and as every track on it shows, the group is capable of sustaining listeners’ attention for more than a handful of songs.” Under the Rradar

“Dynamic, genre-defying act from ambitious local label Highwheel Records” Spin Magazine

“This Chicago band follows up a series of early EPs with an impressive full-length of aggressive, shoegazerish psych-rock. Walls of blistering guitars aided by dense production give the band an immense sound, but memorable melodies and soaring
vocal harmonies ensure their songs are more than just thrilling guitar noise.” KEeXPp

“This is the group’s first LP, and at over an hour, it is an ambitious affair awash with dizzing cascades of guitar effects and a 15-minute closing track that approximates
the sound of the sun exploding and dissolving into an angelic choirboy nocturne.” Tthe Big TtakKeover

i don't want to be part of your scene

Bayangkan situasi ini, band-band indie lokal ternama bisa kita tonton, (plus bonus mereka kadang playing cover version dari band idola), suasana yang akrab jadi nya bisa sekalian silaturahmi, lots of gigster2 menawan( aaww :p ), full laugh and smile( entah itu pure laugh or whatever it is haha ), and it's totally FREE! asik yah? jelas asik. Ini jadi salah satu alasan kenapa saya sangat mencintai kota ini.

Kesimpulannya, "I dont want to be part of your scene" bukan propaganda untuk membuat kita terpaku pada satu komunitas, tapi bukti penghargaan pada semua scene yang ada. Long live the Scene!
